PROPERTIES OF METALS
EXCEPTIONS TO THE RULE
In spite of being a non-metal, it (in the form of graphite) conducts electricity.
In spite of being a metal, it is soft enough to be cut easily with a knife.
In spite of being a metal, it is liquid at room temperature.
Transition metals
It is a biocompatible metal as it has a density similar to bone. It can be used for joint replacements (a hip replacement o a knee replacement)
Light bulb's filament is made of wolfram, as it has the highest melting point of all metals.
It is the only metal that is liquid at room temperature.
It is the most dense liquid.
This element was created artificially.
It is radioactive.
semi metals
Non metals
Noble gases
Helium
It is colourless
It is lighter than air. It is used in balloons.
Inhaling helium changes our voice.
Neon
It is used in neon signs and fluorescent lighting as it emits an orange-red glow
Argon
It can be found in light bulbs and between the panes of double-glazed windows.
Xenon
It is much dense than air.
It is used to fill light bulbs for cars.
